Dr. Paul Buza is the founder and medical director for the Southern AeroMedical Institute- SAMI. His research with Delta Connection Academy has developed new training protocols for upset recovery to improve aviation safety. The successful integration of high altitude chamber technology, flight training devices and simulated ATC to teach pilots as to the dangers of hypoxia. The program is the first of its kind where pilots fly jet simulation in coordination with ATC while experiencing hypoxia in the chamber. The flight session is recorded on multi-media digital video for post flight review. The pilot satisfaction rate in training has been extraordinarily high and further program expansion is now underway.

Dr. Buza is a board certified Neurologist specializing in advanced diving medicine and aerospace physiology. He co-engineered the current chamber facility The facility is an approved triage site for NASA in the event of a catastrophe and he has conducted training and research with NASA. He is a professor at Wright State School of Aerospace Medicine and Florida Institute of Technology. In addition he conducts research in clinical medicine, diving medicine and aerospace physiology
